With more than 100 victories and three track championships to their credit, the family
owned race team," Agee Racing" is a very successful team in the NASCAR Whelen All - American Series.
Every competitor knows that the Agee team is always a threat to win.
It's obvious that the Agee team know their way to victory lane. The team has traveled up
and down the east coast to compete and win at many of the sports most famous and competitive race tracks. The Agee’s
have won races at Log Cabin, 311, Oak Level, Ace Speedway, Franklin Co., Coastal Plains, South Boston Speedway and
Martinsville Speedway.
The 2010 racing season
will mark a milestone for Agee Racing, as the team will celebrate
their 35th Anniversary. It all got started back in 1975 with driver Billy Agee and the dirt tracks such as Log Cabin, Oak
Level, 311 Speedway, running in 6-cylinder and Late Model classes with many feature wins. But Agee Racing would find their
success on asphalt, running the Open-Wheel Modifieds. As 1989 neared, the team was running on a Modified tour that was just
getting started, that tour was called the S.M.A.R.T. tour, now the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.
Then in 1993 the team found
a track they would call "home" and that track was Ace Speedway, located in Altamahaw,N.C. The track had its very
own Modified class, which the team adjusted to very well; winning feature races and finishing runner up in the points
standings from the get go. In 1998 G.C. Agee (Billy's younger brother and crew chief) took over the steering wheel and continued
the family tradition, which would put Billy and G.C.'s older brother Donnie in the crew chief spot. Donnie usually being
the main mechanic, running the race team and driving the racing rig, now had yet another major job on hand.
But unfortunately G.C.'s racing career was only a short 6 years. In 2004 health issues forced G.C. to give up the steering
wheel and he passed away in 2005. Both Billy and G.C. were very successful in the Modifieds at Ace Speedway winning a combined
14 feature races and eleven years straight of top five points finishes. However the family tradition was not in
danger because in 1999 Donnie's 15 year old son Corey Agee was just getting started with his own racing career.
The second generation driver is continuing the family tradition right into its 35th year and under a new team name, Corey
Agee Motorsports. There's no doubt that racing is in Corey's blood due to the results of his driving career so far
and plus he's following the foot steps of two very successful uncle's. The family expects that the second generation driver
will take this 35 year family business far beyond anybody's expectations.
